KLF6 and STAT3 co-occupy regulatory DNA and functionally synergize to promote axon growth in CNS neurons

Transcription factors are emerging as powerful tools to enhance axon regeneration, but likely must be supplied in appropriate combinations for maximal effect. Efforts to identify optimal combinations are hampered by limited understanding of the transcriptional mechanisms that underlie TF-triggered growth.

Starting from genome-wide expression datasets, integrated network and footprinting analyses offer enormous potential to further elucidate TF regulatory circuits that underlie axon growth.
