Conserved phosphorylation hotspots in eukaryotic protein domain families
With our analysis we were able to identify in total 241 domain phosphorylation hotspots. The identification of phosphorylation hotspots across a diverse set of domains suggests a widespread ancient role for control of protein domains by phosphorylation in eukaryotic species. It remains to be studied how these regulatory regions arise during evolution.
